I knitted this

 Basketweave Snuggly Blanket

It is an easy pattern but you do have to count so it was

easy to get distracted.

Pattern

Cast on 135 stitches 

Knit the first 8 rows

Basketweave stitch (mult of 12 + 3)

Row 1: (RS) K6, K3 *P9, K3; rep from * K last 6 sts

Row 2: K6, P3, *K9, P3; rep from * k last 6 sts

Row 3: K6, K3, *P9, K3; rep from * K last 6 sts

Row 4: K6, P to last 6 sts, K6

Row 5: K6, P6, *K3, P9; rep from* to last 9 sts of basketweave, K3, P6; K last 6 sts

Row 6: K6, K6, *P3, K9; rep from * to last 9 sts of basketweave, P3, K6; K last 6 sts

Row 7: K6, P6, *K3, P9; rep from * to last 9 sts of basketweave, K3, P6; K last 6 sts

Row 8: K6, P to last 6 sts, K6

Repeat Rows 1 - 8 for 30 inches

Knit the next 8 rows

Bind off and weave in ends.

Cast on 100 stitches

Knit 12 rows

The first and last 6 stitches are always knitted.

Rows 1 - 7 Knit

Row 8 - Knit 6, purl till last 6 stitches which are knitted

Row 9 - Knit

Row 10 - Same as 8

Row 11 - Knit

Row 12 - Same as 8

Repeat these 12 rows for the pattern.

Do 21 times or till length you want the blanket to be.

Knit 12 rows for the border.

Bind off.

Pattern Notes

This throw is worked flat in one piece from end to end.

This was fun to knit because it was different on such large needles with thick yarn.

That said I probably wouldn't make another blanket with such bulky yarn.

I'm going to make another Fisherman's Throw but use regular 4 weight yarn and all of the same color.  The pattern is so pretty but with all the different colors you can't really see the pattern.

The next one I'll be making will be all green for my friend Dorothy.

Size 10 Needles

800 yards of 4 weight worsted weight yarn - I used Caron One pound of pale green.

Pattern

Cast on 82 stitches

Knit 6 rows

KNIT FIRST AND LAST FIVE (5) STITCHES OF EVERY ROW!!!!

Row 1 - K

Row 2 - P

Row 3 - K5, (K2 tog) 3 times, *(YO, K1)6 times, K2 together 6 times. Repeat from *           2 more times. 

         End row with (YO, K1)6 times. (K2 Tog) 3 times. K5

Row 4 - K

Do these 4 rows for the pattern.

Knit till piece measures 59 inches or how ever long you would like the shawl to be.

Then Knit the last 5 rows.

Bind Off. 

I got the pattern in a book I was reading called The Unlikely Yarn of the Dragon Lady by Sharon J Mondragon.  

The book was about a group of women who knit prayer shawls.

The idea of a prayer shawl is that while it is being knitted you pray for the person you are giving it to.  Then when they put the shawl on it is like you giving them a hug and a prayer.

Round Mini Basket

The Round Mini Easter egg basket to go with the oblong basket

from yesterdays post.

This one is also knitted in three parts and sewn together.

 Knitted on size 2 needles and used double strand of 4 ply worsted yarn.

Pattern

Main Part

Cast on 25 stitches

Knit rows 1 and 2

Row 3 - K1, (K4, P4) to end of row

Row 4 - (K4, P4) to last stitch, K1

Rows 5 and 6 Repeat rows 3 and 4

Row 7 - K1, (P4, K4) to end of row

Row 8 - (P4, K4) to last stitch, K1

Rows 9 and 10 - Repeat rows 7 and 8

Knit 2 rows

Cast off

Base

Cast on 25 stitches

Knit one row

1st dec. row (K3, K2tog) to end of row (20 stitches)

Second dec. row (K2, K2 tog) to end of row (15 stitches)

Third dec. row (K1, K2 tog) to end of row ( 10 stitches)

Leaving a long end, break off yarn and thread through sts.  Pull up tightly and oversew side edges to cast on sts.

Handle

Cast on 30 stitches and knit 3 rows.

Cast off all stitches

Oversew side edges from cast on edge to cast off edge.

With right side of work facing you pin the cast on edge of base to cast off edge of main part and oversew edges together.

sew the handle on.

I put a little Pink Peep in the basket which was crocheted and given to me by Sally, a Needwork friend from the library.

The basket is knitted in three pieces and then sewn together.

Pattern calls for 8 ply worsted weight yarn.

I didn't have any 8 ply so doubled a 4 ply yarn.

Knitted on size 2 US (3mm) knitting needles.

Cast on 48 stitches and knit the first 2 rows.

Row 3,4,5,6 - K4, P4 to end of row.

Row 7,8,9,10 - P4, K4 to end of row.

Knit 2 rows.

Making Up

Main Part

Oversew side edges from cast on edge to cast off edge.

Infinity Scarf

I'm knitting an infinity scarf

using Lion Brand Wool Ease Yarn Fair Isle

Fair Isle is a style of knitting originating in the Shetland Islands 

that is characterized by bands of multicolored geometric patterns.

This yarn that I'm using creates its own pattern.

Color Thistle/Orchid

Though the yarn is 20% wool and 80% acrylic it is very soft and not itchy.

I'm knitting a pattern called Seersucker and it is a good pattern

for a scarf because it doesn't curl.

The pattern is a multiple of 4 stitches, an 8 row repeat

Row 1 - Knit 1, Purl 1 to end

Row 2 - Knit 1, Purl 1 to end

Row 3 - Purl 1, Knit 3 to end

Row 4 - Purl 3, Knit 1 to end

Row 5 - Knit 1, Purl 1 to end

Row 6 - Knit 1, Purl 1 to end

Row 7 - Knit 2, *Purl 1, Knit 3; repeat from * to last 2 sts, Purl 1, Knit 1

I'm using size 6 knitting needles

and cast on 36 stitches

So far my scarf measures 23 inches

and will be 60 inches when finished

 

Double Moss Stitch Blanket

 I knitted another baby blanket.

This one I will save for winter because it was knitted with bulky yarn

and will be nice and warm.

An easy pattern using the Double Moss Stitch knit pattern.

I used 5 weight chunky yarn.

Directions:

Cast on 76 stitches with number 10 36 inch circular needle.

Rows 1 - 8 Knit all rows

Knit blanket body in double moss stitch

This pattern includes 6 stitches of garter stitch (Knit) on each side.

Row 1 - (RS) K6, *K2, P2,* K6

Row 2 - WS) K6, *K2, P2,* K6

Row 3 - K6, P2,* K2,* K6

Row 4 - K6, P2,* K2,* K6

Repeat these 4 rows till desired length.

Knit 8 rows

I knitted this green baby blanket for the month of April.

A group of us women from church make blankets for all the babies

born at the local hospital.

Next month I'll go back to a weave-it baby blanket.

The yarn I used was Caron One Pound and the color is Kelly Green

and is Medium weight (4)

Size 10, 36 circular needle

Pattern called for bulky yarn number 5 but

I just used one strand of Medium weight.

There are 6 size blankets to knit.

If you would like a longer blanket just add another 1 - 20 rows in the middle.

Each additional 1 - 20 rows will add an additional 4.5" to end of blanket.

Scrubby

 Scrubby Dish Cloth

Knitted this Scrubby Dish Cloth with

Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle yarn.

The color is Strawberry.

A first for me working with this yarn.

It makes a great little scrubber and is super easy to make.

With size 5 knitting needles cast on 27 stitches.

Knit all rows till measures 6 inches.

It makes a 6 inch square.

You can easily make it any size you want.

East to Knit Scarf

 A Scarf for Donna

An easy scarf to knit.

The pattern is called the Mistake Stitch Pattern and is only one row repeated.

Knit 2, Purl 2, repeat till end of row and Purl the last stitch.

Cast on an odd amount of stitches, depending on how wide you want the scarf.

(I casted on 33 stitches)

I used size 11 needles.

Keep on knitting till you have the desired length.

Fringe is optional but it I think looks nicer with it.

Cut three pieces of yarn 10 inches long.

When attaching fringe fold in half.

I used a latch hook to attach the fringe to the scarf. 

Easy Lace Baby Blanket

The pattern calls for worsted yarn but I used Peaches and Creme white yarn.

Knitted on size 7 needles.  Used a circular needle because of all the stitches.

Cast on 138 stitches

Border - Knit 8 rows

Body

Row 1 - (RS) K5, *K3, K2tog, yo; repeat from * across to last 8 stitches, K8

Row 2 - K5, Purl across to last 5 stitches, K5

Row 3 - K5, *K3, yo, ssk; repeat from * across to last 8 stitches, K8

Row 4 - Repeat row 2

Repeat rows 1 - 4 until blanket is approx 34 inches long, ending with row 2 or 4.

Border - Knit 8 rows, Bind off.

Knitted Pillow

Directions:

Cast on 82 stitches

Row One - (RS) Purl

Row Two - K1, *(K1, P1, K1) all in the next stitch. P3tog. Rep from * to last st. K1

Row Three - Purl

Row Four - K1, *P3tog. (K1, P1 ,K1) all in the next stitch. Rep from * to last st. K1

Repeat these FOUR rows for the Trinity Stitch Pattern.

Continue in pattern until desired length ending on a RS row.

Bind off.

I used a 16 x 16 pillow form.

Finishing

Fold work in half with WS facing each other.

Sew the 2 sides of pillow closed.

Insert pillow form and sew the last side closed.

I used Karon One Pound color Scarlet.

Knitted on size 9 US knitting needles.

The mini prayer squares are approximately 4 x 3 1/2 inches.

The attached card says,

 A simple fun scarf to knit.

I knitted 6 of them.

The yarn is Lion Brand called

A very simple pattern.

Repeat these 4 rows for Double Garter Stitch

Cast on 142 stitches

Beginning with row 1 work in Double Garter Stitch for two rows.

Decrease Row 1 (right side) Purl 2tog, Purl to last 2 stitches, Purl 2tog - 140 sts.

Purl Row

Decrease Row 2 Knit 2tog, Knit to last 2 sts, Knit 2tog - 138 sts.

Knit Row

Keeping in Double Garter Stitch Repeat last 4 rows for 12 more times - 90 sts remain on the last row worked.

Keeping in Double Garter Stitch decrease 1 st at the beginning and end of every row for 44 rows.

2 stitches remain on last row worked.

K2tog, fasten off.

Fringe

Cut 3 strands of yarn each 10 inches long for each fringe.

Hold 3 strands together and fold in half.

Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of piece, forming a loop.  

Pull ends of fringe through this loop.

Pull to tighten.

Make fringe in center of last row.

Make an equal number of fringes spaced between each purl ridge along both side edges.

Trim fringe evenly.

I used size 9 knitting needles - started with circular and when the stitches were manageable changed to straight needles.

The yarn is Bernat Pop

Ripple Baby Blanket

 Knitted a Baby Blanket for the month April

just to do a something different.

Got it done early!!

The Pattern is a Knitted Ripple Afghan

I made this one smaller than the pattern calls for because

it is for a new born baby.

I used is Yarnspirations Bernat Pop yarn.

Color is called Pop Art

Needle size 9 and I used a circular knitting because of all the stitches.

The Pattern is for a full size afghan 

approximate finished size is 49" x 66"

The pattern is made up of just 2 different rows which are repeated throughout.

Pattern Row 1

Knit 1, slip 1, knit 1.  

Pass slipped stitch over the knit stitch (decrease made); 

*Knit 9, insert needle into next 2 stitches as if you were going to knit 2 together, 

but instead slip them together to right-hand needle; 

Knit 1, pass the 2 slipped stitches together over the knit stitch (double decrease made); repeat from *across, ending Knit 2 together, Knit 1.

Pattern Row 2

Purl 6 * in next stitch purl, but leave stitch on left-handed needle, Yarn Over, 

Purl again in same stitch, now slip stitch off needle as usual (double increase made);

Purl 9, repeat from * across row ending Purl 6.

NOTE - On next row, each yarn over will be worked as a stitch.

Cast on 303 stitches

Afghan is worked back and forth in rows.

Classic Afghan look is made with 4 different colors.

2 Rows Color A

12 Rows Color B

2 Rows Color A

12 Rows Color C

2 Rows Color A

12 Rows Color D

Repeat Color sequence 6 times.

Then work 2 Rows Color A

12 Rows Color B

2 Rows Color A

Bind off as to knit.

Of course you can make the colors any way you choose to.  Every color can be different it you want.

The Pattern is a multiple of 12 + 3

so you can use it for other projects.

The Baby Blanket I made has 129 stitches.

I used 39 stitches for a scarf.
