Materials
Knitting Needles size 4 and 6
2 stitch holders
2 markers
Yarn needle
The yarn I used is, I Love This Yarn
Weight 4
Color Tin Roof
CUFF
With smaller needles cast on 29 stitches
Row 1: Purl 1, Knit 1 across
Row 2: K1, P1 across
Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures 2 3/4 inches from cast on edge.
BODY
Change to larger needles
To increase, knit into the front and into the back of the same stitch.
Row 1: Knit across increasing 5 stitches evenly spaced (34 sts)
Row 2: Purl across
SHAPING
Row 1: Knit 16, place marker, increase twice, place marker, knit across (36 sts)
Row 2: Purl across
Row 3: Knit to marker, increase, knit to within one st of marker, increase, knit across (38 sts)
Repeat rows 2 and 3, 3 times (44 sts)
Work even until piece measures approximately 4 3/4 inches from cast on edge ending by working a purl row.
(for me that was one more one knit row and one more purl row)
THUMB
Knit to marker and slip these 16 stitches onto stitch holder, add 1 stitch, knit to marker, remove marker, turn, add on 1 stitch, slip remaining stitches onto second holder (14 sts)
Work even till thumb measures approximately 2 1/4 inches ending by working a purl row.
Next row: Knit2 tog across (7 sts)
Cut yarn leaving a long end for sewing. Thread yarn needle with end and weave through remaining sts pulling firmly to close and secure, weave seam.
HAND
With right side facing, slip sts from first st holder onto needle, pick up a st in each of 2 added on sts at base of thumb slip sts from second holder onto empty needle and knit across. (34 sts)
Work evenly until piece measures approximately 7 inches from cast on edge, ending by working a knit row.
Next row: Purl 17, place marker, purl across
SHAPING
Row 1: K2, slip 1 as if to knit, K1, PSSO, knit to within 3 sts of marker, K2 tog, K2, slip 1 as if to knit, K1, PSSO, knit across to last 4 sts, K2 tog, K2. (30) sts)
Row 2: purl across
Repeat Rows 1 and 2, 3 times (18 sts)
Next Row: K2 tog across (9)
Cut yarn leaving a long end for sewing. Thread yarn needle with end and weave through remaining sts, pulling firmly to close and secure: weave seam.
PSSO means - Pass Slipped Stitch Over
